MEET THE TEAM

Small Crew Big Dreams

Folsom’s Run is as indie as it gets, a true run-and-gun documentary powered by a small but passionate team. Director Evan Morton wore many hats, serving as writer, cinematographer, drone operator, and editor. Dani Hersholt joined as B-camera operator in the field. Executive Producer Yuka Kobayashi guided the project from inception and introduced Evan to Apex Protection Project. Danny Goor oversaw post-production as producer and composer. Narration was provided by Australian actor Vernon Wells. Paula Ficara and Steve Wastell of Apex not only opened their lives to the camera but also served as producers, helping bring this story to life.

Why We Made the Film

From a wolf hike to a short documentary. Following this hike, Evan was fascinated by the amazing work of Apex Protection Project and the plight of the wolf-dog. Folsom’s Run isn’t just a film on a rescue mission, it’s a film about a beautifully misunderstood hybrid species caught between two worlds, domestic and wild. Bred to be tame, born to be wild. Folsom’s Run aims to illuminate the truths about what happens when we mix “man’s best friend” and the “big bad wolf.”

How You Can Help Wolf-Dogs

Wolf-dogs are often abandoned or euthanized due to fear and misinformation. Apex Protection Project provides them with a safe, forever home — but they rely on public support to keep going. Visit apexprotectionproject.org to donate, sponsor a wolf-dog, or even volunteer. Small actions can make a wild difference.

What’s Next: War on Wolves

Folsom’s Run is just the beginning. We’re currently filming War on Wolves, a feature documentary exploring the national controversy around wolves in America. Follow our journey on Instagram @folsomsrun and @waronwolves to stay updated on new shoots, events, and future screenings.

APEX PROTECTION PROJECT

The goal of Apex Protection Project is to continue the quest of protecting wolves and wolfdogs through educational experiences, rescue, and advocacy with the dream of living in a world where the wolf and all species are highly valued, protected and respected for the balance they bring to the ecosystem and for the gifts they offer to humanity.
